From Des Moines through Denver, Salt Lake City, San Francisco for a two month stay then on to Alamo Palms for a stay that turned into 16 winters. Our other two cousins, Don and Marty joined us at Alamo Palms in February 2006.
We will meet up with Juan and
Rosemary in Utah.
We started our 6000 plus mile journey
Sunday, 9 October. The first major leg is
1850 miles from Des Moines to San
Francisco.
Tuesday, 11 October
We had a great day. Well, I did. Ken is
painting the eaves on his mother’s
house and that is very hard work. I, on
the other hand, went to Panera’s and
used their free wi-fi and got my
website uploaded from new computer.
Then got cell phone software for
internet connection installed at Holly’s
house tonight. Things are looking up.
We had a fun evening with our
daughter Holly, her husband Ray, kids
Tristan, Michael, and Michael’s girl
friend Beth. They are a very
handsome couple. Both could be
models. Michael is extremely
photogenic. See pictures on this page.
Our trip started Sunday with no hot
water heater, no water pump and no
range hood light. Ken wants all these
things to work for my sake which is
nice of him. However, I’ve done serious
time tent camping and this is like
camping in a castle compared to that. I
can live without these niceties.
However, after somewhat of a struggle
we found the problem was just a fuse
blown. Then the latch broke on the
medicine cabinet and the whole thing
will have to be replaced. Denise, our
trustly RV dealer back in Ankeny, will
have a new one sent to Bob’s address
so it will be waiting for us when we get
to California. IF we can get thru the
snow in Denver! Ha. Someone said it
snowed 20 inches there today. If that is
the case we may be a bit late getting
out of Denver. Seriously, the roads
are usually cleared within 12 hours give
or take a little in Iowa, so it should be
even quicker in Colorado.
