Birds who come to eat in our  backyard, located in center of a 65,000 population city. However, we try to make it as timber-like as possible and it pays!

And a morning dove

Female downy woodpecker

IMG_6872_edited.jpg

A type of wood pecker (but not on house as Ken has some kind of repellent he puts on shed and house; so they peck on trees).

Ladder  Back Woodpecker. Cannot see well enough to tell if male or female. Top center could be a junior male red bellied. Below is yellow shafted northern flicker.

To left is not a flicker! It's a starling. aka European Starling: Professional picture below

We love our two chickadees. And we have 3-4, maybe more, juncos.

A rare happening to see a junco on a feeder.Usually only eat on the ground. Notice to the right the puffed up feathers of junco to keep warm.

My friend and expert
Thayne thinks this is a cow bird,(Below)

female and male cardinals.

Bluejays

In our backyard we also have doves, sparrows of course, and finches.

Below is house finch defined because  of his red head.

Squirrels finally recognize field corn. Ken put some out that was still on the cob  which before was shelled and mixed with bird feed.

Evidently didn't want to share as he grabs the whole cob and heads up the tree.

Mission Accomplished
